FAQ

Here are common questions people ask me:

How do we get started?

To get started, simply call me (206-634-0861) or email me (mikelann@womenearning.com) to set up a short phone consultation. I talk to people who are interested in working with me for about thirty minutes on the phone. There is no charge for this. I want to be certain we are a good fit for each other. You can tell me about yourself and ask me questions. I’ll have lots of questions for you too. So just give me a call. If we decide to work together, we can work in person or over the phone. My office is in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle.

What do I need to bring to a first session?

At our first session, we’ll do an intake. This means I’ll ask you tons of questions and figure out exactly where to start in our process. I ask that clients bring very little to a first session. I have so many questions and topics to cover that we will likely not have time to go through anything you bring with you. Just come.

How often do I come in?

I ask clients to start off with two sessions a month. Many clients come in twice a month for 6-12 months before dropping down to coming in once a month. However, it’s a process that is unique for everyone.  I maintain long term relationships with my clients. I have many clients who now come in to see me a couple of times a year for a “tune-up”!

How long are sessions?

Sessions last sixty minutes. Occasionally, we may decide to do a longer session. Couples’ sessions are often 90 minutes.

Can I work by phone?

Yes. If you chose to work by phone, we will utilize screen sharing technology. So you need to have access to the internet and be comfortable on the computer.

I have a small business. Which should I work on, my personal finances or my small business finances?

Great question. This is a question we will explore in our first session and decide together before our second session. Many small business people start off looking at business finances and then progress to looking at their personal finances as well.

Do you work with men?

Yes, I do! While I am known for my work on women’s money issues, I’ve had many wonderful men as clients.

Do you work with couples?

I maintain a limited number of couple’s appointments. Email or call me to find out if I currently am taking new couples.

What are your typical client hours?

My private practice client hours are Tuesday through Thursday, from 9am to 5:00pm

How can I pay you?

You can pay by cash, check or card. (Since so many people struggle with credit card debt, I encourage my clients to use their debit cards instead of their credit cards.)

Do you take insurance?

No, there is no insurance available that covers private money coaching

Can you make other referrals?

Yes, I often make other referrals. Sometimes it is to financial planners and psychotherapists. I can also refer you to a different money coach to find the perfect fit for you.

Please Note: I am not a credit counselor or investment planner and I do not advise people on products or vehicles for their money. Rather, money coaching is a process that addresses long-standing financial behaviors and beliefs and focuses on helping people create sustainable change.
